A Personal Health Update: My Upcoming ACL & Meniscus Surgery
To my amazing patients,
I wanted to personally share an important update regarding my health and what it means for the office over the coming weeks.
As many of you know, I spend a great deal of time educating patients about movement, resilience, strength, and injury prevention. In an ironic twist of fate, I recently suffered a torn ACL and medial meniscus injury that will require surgery. This experience has become a reminder of something important that I often discuss in the office: even when you do all the right things, injury can still happen. Because of the physical demands of chiropractic care and the importance of allowing proper healing, the office will need to temporarily close on June 16 for approximately six weeks while I recover.
We can strengthen our bodies. We can improve mobility, build resilience, optimize movement patterns, and stay proactive with preventative maintenance. These things absolutely matter and significantly reduce risk. However, they do not make us invincible. Whether you are an athlete, an active parent, a weekend warrior, or simply someone trying to move and feel better, there are no guarantees when it comes to the human body.
What preparation and consistency do provide is a stronger foundation for recovery.
This brings me to another lesson that I emphasize often and now get to experience firsthand: recovery matters just as much as preparation.
Surgery is not the finish line. It is the beginning of the rehabilitation process. The work that happens afterward is what maximizes function, restores confidence, and helps someone return to the activities they love. Proper recovery, progressive rehabilitation, patience, and respecting the healing process are essential. As frustrating as slowing down can be, investing in recovery is often what determines long-term outcomes.
As I recover, I will be sharing my story and journey through the Tidal Chiropractic Instagram page at @tidalchiro. Even while I'm out of the office, you will be able to see my progress, what I'm doing to rehabilitate, and what the process looks like if I were to help you recover from this injury in our own clinic.
While the office is temporarily closed, please know that I am still here for you. If you need care, guidance, or a referral during that time, please do not hesitate to contact me. I will gladly connect you with a trusted provider who can continue helping you while I am away.
I will keep everyone updated regarding my recovery and will let you know as soon as we have a firm reopening date and are ready to resume treatment.
In the meantime, I will continue treating patients through June 15, so if you have been delaying care, now is the time to get scheduled. With less than a month remaining before surgery, availability will become increasingly limited.
Thank you all for your patience, understanding, and continued support during this time. I am incredibly grateful for each and every one of you and feel fortunate to be part of your health journey. I look forward to coming back stronger and continuing to help you move, heal, and perform at your best.
See you in the office soon,
Dr. Alex Wasserman
